On top of the Plan de Corones, at an altitude of 2275m, with breathtaking view upon the surrounding valleys and mountain, stays the huge peace bell “Concordia 2000”.
It was installed in summer 2003 and has a 360 degree relief at its feet showing the most impressive peaks of the Dolomites and Alps. Don’t miss the unique view form the Plan de Corones!
Braies lake
The Braies lake is in Val di Braies at 1496m. The lake is situated within the Fanes, Sennes and Braies natural Park, at the foot of the towering rocky sides of the ‘Croda del Becco’. It is 1,2 km long and 300 to 400 meters wide. It is one of the deepest lakes (36 m) in the area of Bolzano. The lake was created as the result of a landslide that blocked the Rio Braies when falling from the side of ‘Sasso del Signore’. A tour around the lake is highly recommended.
Castel Ehrenburg (Casteldarne)
Castel Ehrenburg (Casteldarne) was erected by the counts Künigl who still own it. The castle is in Val Pusteria, on the left bank of the Rienza river, at the feet of mount Ghezzo. It is one of the very few castles to be still completely furnished hence offering a valuable insight on the lifestyle of local noblemen. This most interesting building consists of two main parts: the south facing wing, preserved in its original design and the east facing baroque extension added in the 18th century.
Castel Taufers (Tures)
This impressive castle has a long and important history. Previously owned by the Tures family, this medieval manor has become the property of the 'Südtiroler Burgeninstitut' in 1977.
In the XV and XVI centuries it was used as a spacious private mansion. The castle, fully furnished and perfectly preserved, is considered amongst the largest and most impressive of the whole Tyrol. It contains an interesting collection of furniture and artworks from various historical moments ranging from the XII century to the beginning of the XVII century. It has 64 rooms, two thirds of which are decorated and covered with wood. The main chapel has a precious series of frescos by Friedrich Pacher.

The Ladin Museum in San Martino in Badia is a vast collection of interesting items, works and information that explain and reflect history, life-style and traditions of the Ladin people.
Nature Park House in San Vigilio
The Visitor Centre of the Nature Park Fanes-Senes-Braies located in San Vigilio di Marebbe offers a great insight into the fascinating nature of the Dolomites.
On the underground floor visitors are led through the reconstruction of the Conturines Cave with a model of the Cave Bear skeleton and various original bone findings. Films, microscopes, books, games for children and lots of informative material open up to young and old the secrets and colours of flora and fauna of the nature park and the whole Alpine area.
Provincial mining museum
The Predoi extraction sites have been a source of copper for more than five hundred years. Cadipietra was the main administrative centre for the site. The Cadipietra mining museum has been set up in the fall of 2000 within the barn that used to serve as food storage for the mining site. The museum hosts a rich collection of objects relevant to the mining activity of the Enzenberg family. Valuable wood models of the mine’s facilities, paintings and finely decorated mining maps, books, documents and findings from the mining site: a collection that brings new life to the traditional mining activity in Val Aurina.

The ethnographic museum was founded in 1976 and is Alto Adige’s oldest provincial museum. The museum is partly hosted in the impressive 'Mair am Hof' manor and has a large outdoor section. Middle class and farmers houses are shown alongside some of the oldest traditional techniques and works. The ethnographic museum’s educational itinerary leads visitors through the main aspects and facts of the local farming life and handicraft production. It offers a unique opportunity to explore the past under a sociological and cultural perspective.
