Summer Vacations

Hiking

Hotel Corona in San Vigilio at the foot of Plan de Corones is an ideal starting point for hiking tours in the Fanes-Sennes-Braies Nature Park. The Fanes-Sennes-Braies Nature Park has been in existence since 1980 and is one of seven Nature Parks in South Tyrol. It comprises a surface of more than 60,000 acres, part of which are renowned hiking areas such as the Fanes high plateau and Prato Piazza/Plätzwiese. Lago di Braies/Pragser Wildsee and Lake Dobbiaco/Toblacher See can also be found in the nature reserve.

Several times a week you can participate in insightful guided hikes in the Nature Park. On such hikes, you can learn about groundhogs, herbs and the unique geology of the Dolomites.

Whether you prefer the soft, rolling hiking trails in the Plan de Corones resort or the panoramic high-altitude trails in the Dolomites – you will find what you are looking for here at Hotel Corona in South Tyrol.

Nordic Walking is an activity that can be undertaken by people of all ages and walks of life, in a variety of territories and in all weather conditions. One of the advantages of Nordic Walking is that it generates healthy, natural movement. Thanks to the use of hiking poles, the upper body is trained as well as the back and legs.

Most of the hiking trails in San Vigilio are ideally suited to this activity. Our certified health coach Karin offers Nordic Walking lessons for beginners on a regular basis. You should definitely try this activity during your winter vacations in South Tyrol.

Climbing

The Dolomites are an immensely popular climbing resort. The area’s jagged peaks and rugged rocks are ideal for mountaineering lovers. It is thanks to its unique natural beauty and fascination that the resort has been named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2009.

Its history is as fascinating as the mountains' unique size and shape. Initially the mountain range was a coral reef under an ancient sea. It turned into stone over millions of years, and the strong winds and weather created today's legendary jagged shapes. Many traditional tales and legends mention the "pale mountains" of the area.

Here you will find trails on conditions for a variety of skill levels. Not only does the resort offer many rock climbing routes, but also high-rope gardens, climbing gyms and climbing gardens, which are ideal for beginners of the sport. In summer, you can take part in one of many climbing lessons in San Vigilio. Three climbing gardens can be accessed directly in San Vigilio:

The Pederü climbing garden is located on a rock face of the Dolomites at the end of the valley, just behind San Vigilio/St. Vigil. Here you can explore 24 routes of easy and medium difficulty. The climbing area can be easily reached on a 10-minute walk.

The Vedla climbing garden offers 22 routes which are perfect for beginners and intermediates. Here you will find routes of difficulty levels 3 to 5. The climbing center is located between San Vigilio and Pederü, near Tamersc, and is easy 10 minutes' walk away from Hotel Corona.

The third climbing garden in San Vigilio is called Néa, located near the waterfalls Ciastlins. Néa climbing garden offers 25 different routes, with difficulty levels ranging from 5c to 7a. This climbing area features an especially impressive, vertical Dolomites rock face.

Experts and climbing professionals come to the Dolomites because they love to take on challenging tours in the rough nature, such as the "Neunerplatten" tour at Cima Nove/Neunerkofel (3,000 m), the "Messner Direttissima" or the Southern wall at Col Bechei. Certified mountain guides will gladly accompany you on your tours:

„Adrenaline X-treme Adventures“

The adventure park „Adrenaline X-treme Adventures“ in South Tyrol includes a zip line, Segway Park and a Snowtubing run.

Europe's longest zip line is a parcours made up of ropes and platforms with a total length of three kilometers. Most of the time you will be gliding through mid-air, safely secured by ropes. On altitudes of more than 100 meters above the ground you will float from one tree to another, with a total difference in altitude of 400 meters from start to finish. The zip line is available in summer and winter.

If, however, you prefer to stay on the ground, you should visit the Segway Park. Here you can rent the Segway vehicles, modern new tools which are steered solely by shifting balance from side to side. In summer, you can use the vehicles to explore the nearby hiking trails, and in winter a dedicated snow park for Segways awaits.

The offer is completed by a snow tubing run. Here you can float over the snow in rubber tires. A fun event for all age groups!
