Kronplatz as a hiking paradise

Up to the summit

Hiking promotes good health, while strengthening the heart and circulation. In step with your own heartbeat, you can go as a group and intensively immerse yourself with nature. When taking a leisurely walk along the hiking trails, nature lovers can enjoy the view, switch off from everyday life, listen to the birdsong and discover the entire landscape. With its many hiking trails, forests and meadows, the Kronplatz Dolomites Region offers great variety, throughout the year.

In spring, everything blooms and radiates vibrant colours. Summer is mild, giving warmth and contentment. Autumn is resplendent with kaleidoscopic foliage and the rich wine harvest, while winter reverberates with the muted sound of crystal dreams. Hiking up to the peaks is a worthwhile activity in the milder seasons, while trudging through the snow is a delight for children and adults alike.

Nestled between the rugged mountain peaks, a variety of plants, shady deciduous trees, earth pyramids, glaciers, crystal clear mountain lakes, winding former smugglers' paths, ponds, mountain huts and rustic alpine pastures are just waiting for hikers from all over the world in summer. Beautiful valleys lie between the Dolomites and can be surveyed on a clear day. A highlight are the hiking trails into the mythical realm of the Fanes.

Winter holidays at the Kronplatz

The heavens are so close

In the South Tyrolean Dolomites the winter season starts in December, when the mountains turn white with the first snowfall and temperatures gradually drop below zero. The Kronplatz is one of the most famous ski resorts and due to the flat mountain plateau enjoys the advantage of smooth runs and ski routes with almost treeless slopes. An excellent network of all the most important ski regions is offered, which can be easily reached on foot or by cable car and gondola.

Between Brunico, San Vigilio di Marebbe and Valdaora there are many different slopes and lifts, where you will always find that sporting challenge. The five black slopes offer particularly rapid descents for experienced skiers, while beginners and snowboarders can hone their skills in the newly built snow park, near the Belvedere slope.

As a winter paradise, the Kronplatz also offers extended snowshoe hikes, sledding and ice skating in addition to the long valley runs. The best access to the plateaus is possible via Enneberg, where there are toboggan and winter trails in the middle of a magically white and  illuminated snowbound landscape. After a day of intense sporting activity, you can switch-off at the wellness hotel Corona for a cosy evening by the fireplace, complementing the numerous experiences of the day.

Fanes-Sennes-Braies Nature Park

Holidays in the Nature Park

The legend of the Fanes kingdom is one of the great myths of the Dolomites. According to this legend, the kingdom was created by an alliance of marmots and eagles. In the royal house of Ladanania, there was a conflict between the female and male inhabitants. This was until the king's daughter Dolasilia became a war heroine after falling in battle, despite knowing the bad omens, while her father turned into stone. The so-called "Falza Rego" can be visited today at the Falzarego Pass.

The vast plateaus of the Dolomites reflect this mystical history, especially in Fanes-Sennes-Braies. The large nature park enchants with numerous hiking and thermal trails, affording great views of the Dolomites and crystal clear lakes. It covers an area of 25,453 hectares and offers unique photo opportunities for visitors.

The grassy plains of Sennes and Fanes are a fascinating contrast to the craggy rocks of the mountain giants. There is the Conturines Cave, where cave bears once lived and where bones, over 50,000 years old, have been found. In San Vigilio di Marebbe, a visit to the Nature Park House is an experience, where an impressive exhibition tells the story of the Dolomites and the Realm of Fanes.
